There’s something amazing about being out in nature. It’s so calming and grounding, isn’t it?!
Growing up on a farm and now raising my family on that same farm, I’ve always been surrounded by loads of wide open green space that I am grateful to call home. Nature sure is a beautiful thing!
With more time at home these past couple months, I’ve been reviving and expanding our house plant crew in an attempt to bring the joy nature gives me to the inside of our home. It’s working!
Today I’m sharing an easy DIY plant pot makeover, as well as my top 5 favourite house plants.
Let’s get to it!

Easy DIY Plant Pot Makeover
Materials Needed
- Outdated Plant Pot
- Chalk Paint
- Paint Brush
- Cricut Explore Air
- This is what I used to make my vinyl sticker. If you don’t have a Cricut Machine, check out Etsy for custom vinyl stencils.
- Spray Polyurethane
- Plant
STEPS
1. Paint the pot with your desired color of chalk paint. Apply numerous coats until you achieve your desired look.
2. Once dry, seal the chalk paint by applying a couple coats of the polyurethane.
3. Adhere the vinyl sticker to your pot.
4. Plant your plant directly in the pot or drop it in.
Tip: If your pot allows, keeping your plant in the plastic pot and dropping it in your decorative pot will allow for better moisture monitoring especially if your decorative pot does not have drainage holes. Dropping it in allows you to see the water run through the drainage holes on the bottom, knowing you’ve given it enough water.

Tip: Fiddle-leaf figs are known for being a bit finicky, but they really aren’t as hard as some may think. If you’re hesitant, start small. Purchasing a smaller plant takes the pressure off and lowers your investment.
